The Piece of the Finger of St. Basil the Great was brought to the parish by Rev. Fr. Christos Kerhulas, who lovingly shepherded the community for over thirty years. He commissioned the icon of St. Basil to be painted with the saint holding the actual Church Building of 733 S. Ashland to symbolize that St. Basil holds our community in his hands.

In 2018, the current reliquary was commissioned by pious parishioners and Crown Church Supply lovingly crafted the reliquary in the shape of a hand with the icon of the original reliquary placed on the wall of the case so that the original could blend with the new.

The Original Slipper Relic of St. Basil burned in the Fire of 2013. This slipper was crafted by the nuns of the monastery of St. Gerasimos in Kephalonia and then placed on the blessed saint's foot for 40 days before coming to the Parish in December of 2018. This was brought by us to by the family of Themistocles Fabiatos, whose pious father, Rev. Fr. Dionysios, served the Church of St. Gerasimos in Kephalonia.
